After the invention of the photography in the 19th century, slowly this hobby of photography came to the existence. At that time the equipments were primitive and there were many difficulties in the way of this hobby. By the 20th century equipment and technologies involved made a rapid progress and the hobby of the photography made a continuous progress. This hobby is a very costly hobby and requires continuous investments in it.

In India also there are many people who took this hobby seriously and made it popular. Photography allows you memorize some event or the place or the personality. It requires a lot of patience and knowledge. There are number of institutions in India which provide training in photography. Beside that many universities run regular courses in the subject.

Many people take up this hobby as an amateur but end up becoming a professional as there is a great demand for the good quality of photographer in the market any time in India. Many good photographers turn professional.
To start the hobby you require a good camera, not necessary a costly one. Beside that you should have the basic knowledge of the photography. For the knowledge you can take up some course or you can go to the market to fetch a book on the photography or you can surf the internet for the required knowledge.

There are many competitions organized through out the year for the amateur photographers all over the world. In India also there are many competitions for the amateur photographers. These competitions give out citations and good amount of prize money to the winners.
