Rocket Modeling
This is a hobby like aero modeling and known as the model rocketry or the rocket modeling. I am not sure that how many of you have heard of this hobby in India. It is very popular hobby in the America and the European countries. In this hobby models of the rockets are made and flown. Rocket Modeling was originated in the America in the year 1954 and after that keenly followed by the many world over.
The medium of the construction of the rockets include paper, plastic, wood etc. generally wood and plastic is preferred as they are light in weight and provide a smooth finish to the model. There are number of sites are available to guide you to construct your model rocket and supply the kits in knocked down state which can be assembled and flown for the enjoyment. This hobby attracts children and the adults alike. There are few stages attached between the flight and recovery like the launch, deployment of the recovery system in flight and the final recovery. One more part is left till now and that is the power plant of the model which would enable the model to fly.
Motors are available generally in two categories first is the single use motors and second is the multi-use or re-loadable motors. The motors use generally the black powder. When the model is complete it is fitted with the recovery system which is a parachute and then the motor is fitted. The motor has a inbuilt recovery system ejection charge which activates when the propulsion fuel is exhausted to make the recovery of the model possible for the modeler for the future flights.
The model can be launched from a big open space or a play ground. For launching of the model the motor is fitted with the nichrome wire attached with a long piece of wire, when this wire is connected to the battery it ignites the motor causing the launch of the model.
