Radio Controlled Models -Aero modelling

These are the kind of models which are considered to be top in line as every model builder has the dream of owning such kind of model. These models attract greater price tags as there is some equipment included like the transmitter, receiver and the servos are costly enough. But considering the durability of the models, accessories and equipment it is worth investing.

Control Line Models - Aero Modelling

Clip_image002_0007

The control line models are the models which go around you and it can be controlled with the help of the hand movement. To allow this type of control over the model a control handle is held in the hand of the model flier and thin wires are attached with it connecting the handle and the model. The control surfaces of the model move as per the guidance of the hand and allow the flier to maneuver the model in the air as per his desire.

Free Flight Models - Aero modelling

Clip_image002_0002The type of models come under this category are of three types in general the first is the gliders and second is the rubber powered models and the third is free flight engine model. The Gliders are those models which do not use any engine as the source of power after making the model the model is towed up in the air either manually or by using the battery operated winches. One more type of gliders is also present and description would be incomplete without them. These models are known as the slope soaring sailplanes and basically there is no difference between a slope soaring sailplane and a tow line glider except the slope soaring sailplane is launched in the hilly regions by hand.

Chuck models - Aeromodelling

Chuck models_clip_image002Chuck models are basically the models which are thrown in the air with the help of arms or some catapult. Since the aircraft is being thrown with great initial force therefore the structure of the aircraft should be rigid enough therefore it should contain solid parts to give strength to the structure of the airframe.
To make the chuck aircrafts, numbers of choices are available for making the selection of the medium of construction and they include paper, plastic and balsa or nu-balsa or japonica wood. While the wood and plastic can be used for making both type of models (chuck and catapult), paper can be used for chuck models only. The plastic is used mainly by the model manufacturers to form the pre fabricated parts to be used by the aero modeling kit manufacturers and mostly caters the need of the beginners.

The aero modellers generally prefer to make the model with some advanced features like the bigger size or the greater flight duration of the model.

Flying Models - Aero modelling

Alting-models-aeroThe flying models are those models which can be flown using various techniques. To proceed further you are required to know few basic facts about the flying. Sometime we may have this question in mind that why and how the aircrafts are able to fly in the air. To understand this you must know certain facts:

Every flying body has the four forces acting on it and they are – lift, drag, weight and thrust. While the lift and thrust act as the positive forces, the weight and drag act as the negative force on the flying body. On elaborating the each term we arrive to the conclusion that weight is due to the mass of the body and other accessories of the aircraft, it can be reduced or increased as per requirement a little bit. Weight pulls down the aircraft towards the earth. Drag is the force which restricts the forward movement of the aircraft and is generated due to the shape of the aircraft and reaction blockage generated by the airflow for the movement of the aircraft. To counter this blockade the aircrafts are designed in such a way that blunt edges or the corners are avoided while designing the aircraft.

Static Models - Aero modelling

Static modelsThis section of the hobby is related with the creation of the static scale models of the popular aircrafts whether civil or military. The greatest care is taken to give the perfect shape and provide the minutest possible details irrespective of the size of the model. Second most important aspect taken care in this section is the coloring or the selection of the color scheme and greatest care is taken to produce a look-alike of the original one. Since the model is not being made to fly, therefore there is no problem as regards to the weight of the model is concerned.

To make such models you require a good quality of plan, and some soft wood or you may go for the readymade kits available in the hobby shops in the many big cities. If you decide not to go in for the readymade kits than for the plans you may refer to the Jane’s World Book of Aircrafts. This book has all the details sought to make a model. Only problem you may face is the size of the plan of the selected type of the aircraft, for which you can go in for the manual enlargement of the plan or you may get it enlarged with the help of photocopy enlargement or computer scanned enlargements.
